Vickers Tactical class

Vickers Tactical Class a Two-day Success

Metacon Gun Club hosted Larry Vickers of Vickers Tactical for a two day pistol and carbine class on Oct 8-9. The event was well attended by Metacon members as well as some familiar faces from outside the club. Sixteen students were exposed to two full days of real-world defensive marksmanship techniques and procedures by the renowned fifteen year veteran of the U.S. Army’s Delta Force. The students took away improved pistol shooting skills, and a vastly expanded appreciation for the defensive capabilities of the M4 carbine.

Additionally, on day one, students were treated to an impromptu visit from representatives of Colt Defense who showcased (and graciously allowed the class to “fam fire”) two select prototypes of the Colt CM 901 modular carbine system (a 7.62 NATO AR rifle that can accept 5.56 uppers and magazines).

The students appreciated that the membership approved use of the outdoor range for two full days so the class could be held. Larry Vickers (who is based out of the Ft. Bragg, NC area) is one of the world’s most sought-after tier-one marksmanship and tactics instructors, and this was his first open enrollment class in CT.

Congratulations to members George Stumpf and Bob Margolis, who were recognized by Larry Vickers as the class high shooters. Thanks are also extended to Safety & Education and to Dom Basile and the numerous volunteer range officers who worked to ensure all had a safe and enjoyable time. An after-action report (with photos) is available online for this class. Click here for additional details.

The club thanks member Ben Shim for bringing this course to Metacon., and for all of his work to get it organized and to make it happen.
