Youth Shooting Program – Training and Competition
Since its formation in the 1950’s The Metacon Gun Club in Simsbury, Connecticut has offered small bore training and shooting activities for youngsters between the ages of 10 and 18.
Open to both boys and girls who have an interest in the shooting sports, parents are pleased to learn that there are no wait list or membership fees involved to join this community program. All shooters can take advantage of club supplied equipment and rifles, making it easy for youngsters to explore interest, without the need to make an upfront investment in sporting equipment. If you are the parent of an experienced shooter or are new to the area, you will be pleased to know your shooter can both bring and use their own equipment at practices and matches.
The goal of the Metacon Youth Shooting Program is to develop interest in all shooting sports along with building good sportsmanship and participation in competition. To that end, youngsters are encouraged to compete in local and state matches and to work toward attending and competing at the National Matches held at Camp Perry, Ohio. Youngsters who have an interest in long range high power shooting can also learn this exciting sport from several of Metacon’s nationally certified rifles coaches.
If you have a youngster or know of one who might be interest, we invite you to come to one of our practices held on Monday evenings beginning at 5:30 PM.
